Sporteluxe: When not on the court, what is your style?

Serena: I’m pretty feminine off the court. I love to get my hair and nails done. When not training I look forward to going shopping, my favourite cities to shop is in London and Paris which includes Harrods and River Island.

What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

Serena: The right sports bra is so important – it really can be the difference to winning or losing on the court. I’ve been wearing Berlei since my mum discovered Berlei bras in Myer in 2009, when I was over for the Australian Open. Since then they are the only sports bra I will wear during training and competitions. I wear the Electrify underwire when I’m training which come in really fun bright colours. Then during major competitions you won’t find me without the High Performance.

Sporteluxe: Who is your favourite Australian or International designer?

Serena: Spending a lot of time in Paris, I like a lot of French designers. I like Azzedine Alaïa: I love the fabrics he uses, I love the cuts.

Sporteluxe: What Berlei bra colour combos are you planning to wear for the next few tournaments

Serena: I love mixing colours, I start with the colours and shapes discussing looks with the Nike designers and it goes from there. Some tournaments are more colourful and relaxed so I always mix it up a little at these and like all ladies I like to make my own statement on the Court. Berlei Designer Adele works very closely with Nike to understand what I will be wearing at certain tournaments and then they design and colour match bra’s for me to wear – It’s pretty cool. For a lady with larger breasts it’s often difficult to find that right product that is good for you. Especially as an athlete it’s next to impossible to find, as I said I have not worn another bra on the Court since finding Berlei Sports bras. There’s literally no bounce and they make you feel really comfortable, tight and stylish.

Sporteluxe: When do you plan to retire?

Serena: I definitely want to go out in my peak. That’s my goal. But have I peaked yet? I really enjoy every moment that I’m out there. I always said that I felt like I have never played my best tennis.  I have been saying that for years, that I feel like I can always do better and play better and I have always wanted to reach that level. Maybe I’m just trying to get there.

Sporteluxe: What is your favourite freshly squeezed juice combo?

Serena: I love Acai – it’s a super food!  I often use it to make smoothies. I use Acai power and blend it with apple juice, a banana, frozen mixed berries and protein powder for the perfect work out smoothie.

Sporteluxe: What can’t you live without everyday?

Serena: Great music. I always listen to music, at the moment I’m loving the new Daft Punk album – I can’t stop listening to “Get Lucky”.
